Minnetrista Explores Delaware County’s Role in the American Story with America at 250: Celebrating Hoosier Spirit

Muncie, IN— Minnetrista Museum & Gardens invites visitors to discover the people, stories, and artifacts that connect Delaware County to defining moments in American history in America at 250: Celebrating Hoosier Spirit, America at 250: Reflections on Community, on view June 6, 2026–January 31, 2027, in the Center Building.
Drawing from Minnetrista’s Museum Collection, formerly known as the Minnetrista Heritage Collection, the exhibition offers a closer look at how local experiences have both shaped and reflected the broader American journey. Through military uniforms, political ephemera, photographs, and other historical artifacts, guests will discover how Delaware County connects to defining moments in the nation’s history.
“The past 250 years are full of stories that, together, help tell the history of the United States,” said Sebastián Encina, Director of Curation & Exhibition at Minnetrista Museum & Gardens. “Indiana offers a unique perspective on how national events have shaped local communities and how local stories have contributed to the broader American experience. From politics to sports, from land use to military service, our region is filled with stories that connect Delaware County to the national dialogue while remaining uniquely Indiana.”
America at 250: Celebrating Hoosier Spirit encourages visitors to reflect on how national history is experienced at the local level and how the legacy of past generations continues to shape communities today.
Visitors can also experience America at 250: Reflections on Community, on view in Gallery 2 through October 25, 2026, which explores identity, belonging, and shared experiences through an interactive and participatory exhibition experience. Together, the exhibitions invite guests to explore both personal reflection and historical perspective as part of the ongoing American story.
Both exhibitions are included with regular admission and are free for Minnetrista members.
