Muncie, IN—Minnetrista Museum & Gardens presents Threads of Home, a powerful new exhibition by metal and glass artist Jessica Calderwood, on view December 6, 2025, through March 1, 2026. The exhibition features a striking collection of handcrafted works that reinterpret textile patterns drawn from diverse communities across Delaware County, preserving both their beauty and the stories they carry.
Through a series of six-inch-diameter metal works, Calderwood translates textile patterns into enduring forms made of metal and glass. Each piece reflects a personal or cultural narrative—patterns that once lived in fabric and tradition now reimagined as lasting objects that honor memory, identity, and place.
“Threads of Home invites visitors to slow down and consider the stories woven into the materials we carry with us,” said Sebastián E. Encina, Director of Curation & Exhibitions at Minnetrista. “The human experience is diverse and unique, vibrant with all imaginable colors of the spectrum. Often, those experiences are fleeting and temporary, lost to time and decay. Through the work of artist Jessica Calderwood, we attempt to preserve those stories of people from across the world who now call East Central Indiana home. The result is a brilliant display of art that reminds us how colorful Indiana truly is.”
In addition to the sculptural works, the exhibition is enriched with maps, photographs, and personal narratives. Together, these elements connect visitors to the individuals and communities behind the artifacts, highlighting the cultural significance of textiles as vessels of memory and belonging.
Rooted in both craft and community storytelling, Threads of Home reflects Minnetrista’s ongoing commitment to amplifying local voices, honoring lived experiences, and creating spaces where art and heritage intersect.
