Muncie, IN—Families are invited to enjoy a full day of fun, learning, and free admission at Minnetrista Museum & Gardens during Summer Discovery Day: Say ‘Hello’ to Good Night Forest on July 18, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. This special day welcomes guests of all ages to explore engaging exhibitions and the natural beauty of Minnetrista’s campus—at no cost. Check-in begins at the Center Building.

Visitors will have the chance to explore Good Night Forest, a nature-inspired experience that feels like stepping into a beloved children’s storybook. With whimsical scenes and sensory-friendly activities, children will build confidence and scientific curiosity as they learn about animals that emerge in their neighborhoods and local forests after dark.

Guests can also journey into the far north with Narwhal: Revealing an Arctic Legend. This immersive display explores the elusive narwhal—often called the "unicorn of the sea"—through real specimens, life-sized models, and stories from Inuit community members and scientists. The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about this animal’s role in Arctic culture and our changing global climate.

Visitors are encouraged to preregister for staggered entry times to ensure a relaxed arrival, but guests are welcome to stay and explore all day. Families can also enjoy activities such as Betty’s Cabin from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Explorer Bags ($5 or free for members), and the year-round Backyard Garden.

Minnetrista’s Chief Operating Officer, Lindsey Horan, shared her enthusiasm for the event: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming our community for Summer Discovery Day. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to connect through hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and inspire learning for all ages. While our memberships make it easy and affordable to visit all year long, this free day gives everyone a chance to come explore and enjoy Minnetrista together. We can’t wait to see you here!”

Admission is free for all guests. For more information and to preregister, click here.
