Parkinson’s Awareness Month: Tulip Trail Event at Minnetrista to Raise Awareness for Parkinson’s Disease
Muncie, IN—In honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, the Parkinson’s Support Group of East Central Indiana, in partnership with Minnetrista Museum & Gardens, will host a special Meet and Learn coinciding with the blooming of the Tulip Trail—a beautiful red tulip display symbolizing hope, resilience, and support for those living with Parkinson’s Disease. The event will take place on April 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Center Building and is free and open to the public.
“This event is about more than just planting flowers—it’s about building connections,” said Dawn Condon, Associate Clinical Lecturer of Speech Language Pathology at Ball State University and one of the organizers of the event. “By bringing people together, we can raise awareness, share resources, and inspire hope for those living with Parkinson’s disease.”
The event brings the community together in an engaging and informative setting, offering valuable insights into Parkinson’s disease, its impact, and available resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the disease and connect with others in the Parkinson’s community, including caregivers, healthcare providers, and local support groups.
In collaboration with Minnetrista Museum and Gardens, the Department of Speech Language Pathology at Ball State, along with the student National Speech Language Hearing Group and the Parkinson’s Support Group of East Central Indiana, planted a red tulip display. The red tulips, the national symbol for Parkinson’s disease, bloom in honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, symbolizing hope and resilience. Inspired by Richard May, a Parkinson’s advocate from the Parkinson Voice Project, the trail represents a growing movement to raise awareness for those impacted by Parkinson’s disease. The red tulips planted throughout Minnetrista highlight the strength and perseverance of individuals living with the disease, serving as a reminder of the community’s collective effort to provide support and education.
