Muncie, IN—Grab your flashlight and get ready for an unforgettable adventure! Beginning June 7, 2025, Minnetrista Museum & Gardens invites families to step into Good Night Forest—a whimsical, nature-inspired exhibition that brings the nighttime world to life.

Open through November 2 in Gallery 1 & 2 of the Center Building, Good Night Forest transforms the museum into a vibrant storybook setting, filled with enchanting scenes, hands-on activities, and the wonders of the forest after sunset. Children of all ages will have the chance to learn about the fascinating creatures that emerge in their neighborhoods and local woods when the sun goes down.

“This exhibition taps into the natural curiosity children have about the world around them,” said Sebastián Encina, Associate Director of Exhibition & Curation at Minnetrista. “Reminiscing about the nights of my youth, I remember the thrill of playing outside once the sun went down. What unknown critters lay unseen in the shadows? How different was the world in just a matter of hours? Good Night Forest not only welcomes children to the night—it brings out the kid in every adult who visits. Seeing the world through a child’s eyes once more, we’re all invited to play in the splendors of dusk.”

Designed to build confidence and cultivate scientific exploration, Good Night Forest invites visitors to experience the great outdoors from a fresh perspective. Through charming, interactive scenes and engaging sensory stations, kids will explore the lives of nocturnal animals like owls, raccoons, frogs, fireflies, and more—all while developing a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Produced and organized by the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, Good Night Forest is made possible with support from the Ball Brothers Foundation and the George and Frances Ball Foundation. Whether you're a young explorer or just young at heart, this immersive exhibition is a perfect way to connect with nature, spark imagination, and make lasting family memories.
