Minnetrista Serves Up a Win as Runner-Up at Soup Crawl 2025

Dulcie Holcomb, Hospitality Manager

The 13th Annual Soup Crawl was a night to remember! Hosted by PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union and Second Harvest Food Bank during ArtsWalk in Downtown Muncie, this crowd favorite brought together local restaurants, caterers, and nonprofits to ladle out their best recipes—all in support of fighting hunger. Among the standout flavors, Minnetrista’s Crawfish Maque Choux earned Runner-Up in the Vickie Copley People’s Choice Award competition, along with rave reviews from soup lovers across the city.

Since its start in 2011, Soup Crawl has provided more than 467,000 meals for neighbors in need through Second Harvest Food Bank. This year’s proceeds benefit The Big Idea, which works with schools and families to break the cycle of generational poverty.

Our Hospitality Manager, Dulcie Holcomb, crafted this flavorful dish with heart and memory. She reflects:

“Crawfish maque choux, or mudbug stew as I call it, is a playful combination of some of my favorite childhood memories—crawfish boils, laughter around the table, and bowls of something warm and comforting that always seemed to cure what ailed you.”

Food has always been deeply connected to Dulcie’s life. Having grown up across the country, she was influenced by diverse cultures and cuisines—from the Shoshone-Bannock community in Idaho to Latino kitchens in New Mexico and southern Florida. For her, food is about people, memory, and celebration.

That passion came through in every bite at Soup Crawl, and we are so proud to have Dulcie leading our hospitality team here at Minnetrista!

Congratulations to Vera Mae’s Bistro on their winning Potato Dumpling Soup, RoHo’s on their second runner-up Dippers Delight, and to all the local participants who made this event such a success. And most importantly, thank you to Second Harvest Food Bank for the incredible work they do in our community.
