The Berenstain Bears Visit Minnetrista
It’s not every day that one sees a bear walking around Minnetrista's campus. It’s also not every day that Sister Berenstain Bear comes to campus. Thankfully for us, both bears turned out to be the same.
As for what she was doing here, Sister Bear was dropping off new books in Minnetrista’s Little Free Libraries to promote PrimeTrust of Muncie’s new financial literacy program!
“Across East Central Indiana, financial literacy programs are lacking,” said Carol Bradshaw. “Our financial literacy team was tasked with finding a program capable of educating the children of our community about finances and saving. When we came across The Berenstain Bears Financial Literacy Program, it was a perfect fit.”
Through Credit Union Network for Financial Literacy, PrimeTrust was able to find a youth education and marketing suite geared toward credit unions and the documented need to introduce financial education to young learners.
“This program resonates with generations of adults who grew up with The Berenstain Bears and trust them,” said Bradshaw. “Children and parents worldwide adore the loveable bear characters and are receptive to their lessons. At PrimeTrust we hope our program can educate the community and their children, and make them feel better financially.”
Books in part of the Credit Union Financial Literacy Series include the program’s signature publication The Berenstain Bears’ Trouble with Money and the credit union edition of The Berenstain Bears Visit the Credit Union, which is only available at the credit union, and both are in Minnetrista’s Little Free Libraries.“
At PrimeTrust, we understand the importance of togetherness,” said Bradshaw. “For the next five years, the Berenstain Bears Financial Literacy Series will be available in Delaware County for parents looking to expose their children to age-appropriate money management concepts, and hands-on activities.”
Since debuting in 1962, The Berenstain Bears book series has grown to over 300 titles, selling 300 million copies in 23 languages. The Berenstain Bears franchise has expanded beyond books, encompassing two television series, a host of products and licenses, and a feature film currently under development.
