Stories That Meet You Where You Are
By Brea Cunningham
Through a growing partnership with Heart of Indiana United Way, Minnetrista is expanding literacy experiences beyond its walls. Tale Trails—outdoor story walks— transform everyday spaces into places of discovery, inviting children and caregivers to read and explore together. Designed to be interactive and accessible, they bring the museum outdoors while reinforcing a simple message: you belong here.
Funded through a grant from the George and Frances Ball Foundation and supported by community partners, Tale Trails weave literacy into public spaces, helping make reading part of everyday life. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring meaningful learning happens everywhere. Look for the first Tale Trail coming to Minnetrista’s campus later in 2026.
United Way is further strengthening this impact by sponsoring Museums for All memberships for 300 local families, removing financial barriers and welcoming more households into Minnetrista’s spaces. Together, these efforts turn partnership into access—creating opportunities for families to read, explore, and belong both inside the museum and out
in the community.
