Using SNAP and Health Bucks for Farmers Market at Minnetrista

The outdoor season of the Farmers Market began on May 5. The Market runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday from May through October. The market includes a wide variety of local and fresh foods – many of which you can use SNAP benefits or IU Health Bucks to purchase! Below, you will find information about using the two programs at Minnetrista.

IU Health Bucks program

Who qualifies?
IU Health chooses people to invite into the program, based on recommendations from various civic organizations. Those who choose to become participants attend 3 information sessions at Minnetrista.

How do I know which vendors accept Health Bucks?
Participating vendors have a sign on their booth to let people know they accept IU Health Bucks.

What do I need to bring to show I’m a participant in the program?
All you need is your Health Bucks. As long as you have the bucks, you are able to spend them like cash at the participating vendors.

SNAP benefits

What do I need to bring to use SNAP benefits at the farmers market?
Bring your EBT card to the Orchard Shop. There, you can swipe your EBT card for farmers market tokens. These tokens are valued at $1. You can begin using the benefits on June 2.

How do I know which vendors accept SNAP benefits?
Tokens can be used to purchase any SNAP-eligible products. These include:

  • Breads and cereals

  • Fruits and vegetables

  • Meats, fish, and poultry

  • Dairy products

  • Seeds and plants that produce food

 WIC benefits

A variety of our vendors at the Farmers Market accept WIC and senior WIC benefits. Participating vendors have a sign on their booth to let people know they accept WIC benefits.

See you this summer!
