When you think of Minnetrista, what do you instantly think of? Beautiful gardens, scenic nature areas, outdoor activities, readily available venues? Many people do.
What many people do not realize, however, is just how many activities there are to do at Minnetrista, making this gathering place the perfect destination all year long.
Walk Through the Gardens
Nothing says spring quite like a relaxing and scenic stroll through one of Minnetrista’s fourteen breathtaking gardens.
One of the best times to see the gardens of Minnetrista, is when the sun is still rising. It’s then when along the Minnetrista Parkway, that the bright yellow daffodils take center stage.Those same daffodils can be found in the Four Seasons Garden, where they are paired with burgundy ‘Gavota’ tulips.
This particular garden provides year-round interest along the right side of The Orchard Shop, and Wishing Well Moon Garden.
Enjoy Activities in Betty’s Cabin
Gather the family for fun activities and crafts in Betty’s Cabin. Modeled after Elisabeth “Betty” Ball’s love of imagination, exploration, and adventure, it’s the perfect getaway for a day of family fun. Enjoy games, crafts, a puppet theatre, and much more.
Take a Hike in the Nature Area
If you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet outdoor escape, visit the Nature Area, located off of St. Joseph Street across from The Orchard Shop. It’s a nice and secluded place to sit and read a book, draw, hike, or just relax. It is also home to a diverse and rich community of native Indiana plants and animals species that are sure to catch your eye.
Outdoor Events
Warmer weather marks the return of new opportunities for outdoor events and activities. This spring and summer, join Minnetrista staff for Senior Free-Admission Day: Native Trees on May 18; After Hours at Minnetrista: Brews & Kabobs on May 20; and Tea & Talk at Minnetrista: Color in the Courtyard on June 1.
Outdoor Farmers Market
Springtime means it’s time for the outdoor season of Farmers Market at Minnetrista. Beginning May 7, join friends and family for fresh and remarkable produce from local vendors every Saturday. Then, in June, enjoy the Canning Experience led by experienced Minnetrista canners.
