Accessorize Your Ball Jars
Ball jars have been in resurgence over the last couple of years, haven’t they? You can find them everywhere—restaurants, trendy boutiques, back yard barbeques, and, of course, in people’s basements and on their shelves, still full of delicious food.
Due to this resurgence, companies have started making a lot of cool, unique, and useful accessories for the Ball jars’ new and different uses. There are soap dispenser tops, drink lids, infusers, flower arranging lids, solar lights, potpourri lids, and many more. I have tried many of these different items and feel like it is worth sharing my thoughts with you!
One of the first great accessories that I tried was the drink infuser. This is a perfect item for summer hydration! I made raspberry-lemon water, strawberry lemonade, and raspberry tea (I had a lot of raspberries last year). They were all so delicious. Along the same lines, I also enjoyed using the sip and straw lids. You can put any drink in a Ball jar and have it covered with a lid and straw. I used this most often at the canning booth at Farmers Market. It fit the ambiance and kept little flying pests out of my drinks!
Another accessory that I enjoyed using this year was the cute cut-out lids for potpourri. I made one for my house with fall scents. I glued some ribbon around the ring and it was a nice decoration. After I did that one for my house, I decided to make a bunch for Christmas presents for co-workers and family. This was a nice, easy, crafty, festive gift. It also had personality—ya know, since the Ball jars have sort of taken over my life. 😉
I’m using two other accessories that I bought ready-to-use. I have a nice, old blue jar with a soap dispenser on top at my kitchen sink. I quite like it and feel that it fits into the room nicely. And outside I have an adorable solar light bug that I bought at an art fair this past summer. I really love it!
So, if you have old, colorful, or even new jars that you wouldn’t mind putting to a different use, check out these great options. You can also find them at craft stores, The Orchard Shop at Minnetrista, Etsy.com, as well as many other retailers.
This time, I think I need to say, HAPPY CRAFTING!
