Education & Programs
Do you enjoy working with people and having fun? Discover many of our exciting volunteer opportunities to advance our educational mission! Volunteers participate in and help with a wide variety of unique workshops and activities, ranging from arts and crafts and jewelry making, to cooking, nature, and games.
Gardens & Horticulture
Do you enjoy working outdoors? Sign up to volunteer with the horticulture crew! Work alongside our resident gardeners and other volunteers to assist with large planting projects and all sorts of outdoor projects. Volunteers are a huge help to the horticulture team and are guaranteed to learn as they serve!
There are always opportunities to work in our garden and nature spaces. If you don’t have the time to commit regularly, or if you’re looking for an introduction to what volunteering with the horticulture team will look like, sign up for one of our one-day volunteer events! Horticulture Volunteer Days allow volunteers to come to Minnetrista for a day and help maintain our lively gardens! Whether cleaning and preparing soil for future seeds or digging and planting, there’s always plenty of work to be done!

Library, Collections, & Archives
Do you enjoy history and heritage? It’s all about the details. Minnetrista’s Exhibitions & Programs Division welcomes you to help preserve the heritage of East Central Indiana through basic collections.minnetrista.net/heritage-collection care techniques for objects and archival materials. Projects may be tailored to a volunteer’s interests. Volunteers in this area are directly supervised by the staff during weekday hours.
The Orchard Shop
The Orchard Shop at Minnetrista provides opportunities for volunteers to tap into their customer service skills. September through December is a great time to volunteer since, throughout the season we see increased consumer demand for Minnetrista’s apples and famous fresh apple cider. As a volunteer in The Orchard Shop at Minnetrista, your responsibilities will range from customer service and stock preparation to display organization and general maintenance. Other retail duties may be assigned to help maintain a hospitable environment. Our volunteers are a big part of what makes The Orchard Shop the inviting and lively environment our customers love!
Special Events
Help create meaningful experiences for our visitors during events such as Family Adventure Days, Enchanted Luminaria Walk, Garden Fair, or Faeries, Sprites, & Lights.
