New Year, New Recipes—You Decide!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas season full of laughter, merriment, relaxation, and perhaps some wonderful gifts! Over here at Minnetrista, we are in full planning mode getting things all in place for the upcoming events for the next year!

It is a fun time because I get to start picking all the recipes for the canning workshops for the upcoming year. So, I get to scour the Ball Blue Book, the Complete Guide to Home Preservation, and freshpreserving.com for new ideas and things to try in the new year. I usually end up with a very long list of possibilities for what we can do and have to pare it down to fit our workshops. At that point, I tell myself that I’ll make the other recipes at the Canning Experience booth at Farmers Market or at home. No, I don’t always get to all of the recipes. But, I do my best!

This month I decided that I’d preview some of the recipes on this list to see if anyone has any feedback about recipes they’d be most interested in. If you are interested in something on the list or if you think something sounds absolutely abysmal please let me know. I welcome any feedback.

  • Mojito Jelly—minty, lime flavor with liqueur

  • Zesty Peach Barbeque Sauce

  • Peach Rum Sauce—put over ice cream or cheesecake

  • Thai Sauce—garlic, hot pepper, and vinegar flavors

  • Rhubarb Chardonnay Jam—rhubarb jam with a twist

  • Chicken Soup—with no noodles

  • Green Salsa—green tomatoes, hot peppers, and other spices

  • Fresh Herb Jelly—with an apple juice or white wine base

Ok, tell me what you think in the comments: What do you like? What don’t you like?
