Discover the importance and wonders of water at Minnetrista during Super Saturday in September and find out how you can make a difference!
Muncie, IN—September 6 is Super Saturday at Minnetrista. This event includes Farmers Market at Minnetrista, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Family Fun Day at Minnetrista: Blue Planet, from noon to 4 p.m.
Begin by connecting with people at Farmers Market at Minnetrista, from 8 a.m. to noon. Look for locally grown produce and fresh goods, which support local farmers and vendors and help improve the community.
Your family will be immersed in water-themed games and activities. Where does water go after it rains? Explore the wonders of water at Minnetrista. Discover your water footprint and your water shed address of the White River. Take home a water scavenger hunt and find out small changes you can make that have a big impact on water quality.
“Family Fun Day at Minnetrista: Blue Planet is a chance to celebrate and discover how to protect our oceans, our drains, and even ourselves,” said Schroer. “While you’re here, stop in and hear how world-explorer Justin Riney is inspiring care for our blue planet.”
Justin Riney, founder of Mother Ocean, will present an entertaining travelogue of Expedition Florida 500, his year-long exploration of Florida on a stand-up paddleboard. Enjoy One Man, One Paddleboard, and 365 Days, a talk and paddleboard demonstration by Riney at 1 p.m. This demonstration and Family Fun Day are included in the general admission of $5, as well as Water’s Extreme Journey.
“With our current exhibit, Water’s Extreme Journey, Minnetrista is exploring one of the earth’s most plentiful and essential resources,” said Visitor Experience manager Allison Schroer, “Join us to see, and even taste, more water adventures!”
In the exhibit, introduce and engage children in a first-hand exploration of the science behind the water cycle. Your family and friends experience the watershed as a water drop and voyage through rivers, lakes, wetlands, and even our homes, eventually reaching the healthy ocean.
But it’s not all wet and wild—through powerful interactives and local messaging, you can find out how daily decisions can immediately improve the watershed in your own backyard.
