Community honors Black History Month with auction and inspirational speakers

Muncie, IN–Commemorate Black History Month at Minnetrista! The Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Team of Muncie will host the Black History Month Kick-off Celebration once again this year on February 2.

Event programming includes the second annual Create for the Dream art contest—in which local artists embrace black history through original artwork in a variety of mediums. A silent art auction and raffle will also be held the morning of February 2, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon, during a continental breakfast.

Black History Month essay contest winners will be announced and influential guest speakers will honor the past and present during this free community event.

Silent auction and raffle proceeds support the Freedom Bus project—a mobile tour displaying local student artwork and educating community youth about civil rights history.
