Meet Honest Abe and learn Civil War history at Minnetrista during Family Fun Day!

Muncie, IN— Have you ever wondered what life was like for soldiers during the Civil War? Find out at Family Fun Day at Minnetrista: Civil War Days on August 11 from noon-4 p.m.

Experience the Civil War through real letters between soldiers and their families in Away From Home: Civil War Letters, an interactive, multimedia exhibit. Learn how photography helped shape perspectives of President Lincoln, one of the most famous and respected presidents in American history, in Abraham Lincoln: The Image.

At 2 p.m., join Minnetrista Theatre Preserves for a thrilling performance of ONE DESTINY by Richard Hellesen. This 35-minute play follows actor Harry Hawk and Ford’s Theatre co-owner Harry Ford as they revisit April 14, 1865. As they reconstruct what happened that evening, they grapple with the question: Could John Wilkes Booth have been stopped? Explore the facts of Lincoln’s assassination while capturing the emotions of that fateful night and its aftermath. This performance is recommended for ages 8 and up.

After you’ve caught up on Civil War history, transcribe a historical letter and meet Civil War re-enactors. You can even eat food typical of what soldiers ate in the field. Meet “Honest Abe” during Family Fun Day: Civil War Days and ask him what life was like during the Civil War.

All the activities of Family Fun Day are included with general admission ($5). Minnetrista members and children 3 and under are free.
