Tomāto, Tomäto! Learn to can your own in Minnetrista’s next workshop.

Muncie, IN— Canning is a great way to get the most out of your fresh produce. Learn how to give your tomatoes an extra kick and how to preserve them to use all winter at Minnetrista’s next canning workshop, Tomāto, Tomäto, on Tuesday, July 17 from 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Use garden-fresh tomatoes to make your choice of Italian or chili-seasoned tomatoes for a little extra zing. Learn about hot water bath vs. pressure canning for these favorite fruits from the garden.

According to Ashley Lichtenbarger, workshop coordinator and educator at Minnetrista, “This canning workshop is an opportunity for new canners to get in on some of the basics of canning. It also is a great time for more seasoned canners to add a little spice to their staple canned goods!”

The deadline to register for Tomāto, Tomäto is Friday, July 13. The workshop costs $20, and includes all the tools, instruction, and ingredients you’ll need, as well as a batch of your own spicy tomatoes to take home and savor now or later!

Interested in canning but don’t know where to begin? Visit Minnetrista on Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. for National Can-It-Forward Day.
