This exhibit invites visitors on an emotional journey into the lives of American Civil War soldiers and the families they left behind. Experience the glory and tragedy of the Civil War through letters of those who were there. Sixteen distinct sections taking the visitor on a journey through the Civil War. Minnetrista Theatre Preserves will perform One Destiny, a New York play previously exclusively performed by Ford’s Theatre and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Visitors will experience the Civil War by reading and listening to personal letters. Each section in the exhibit provides background information to place the letters in context of the Civil War and to help the visitor understand the conditions (physical and emotional) under which letters would have been written, received, read, and cherished.
