Farmers Market: DIY Bags and More

I love shopping at Farmers Market at Minnetrista throughout the summer months. It's been amazing to watch the market grow from a few hundred folks each Saturday to about 2,000 visitors attending each week! Popular demand has led us to expand the market into the winter months, as well.

For the crafty and creative among us (myself not included in the 'crafty' category) I've put together a list of  shopping accessories and tips to make your shopping more enjoyable!

DIY Farmers Market Bags and gifts

1. Farmers Market Herb Bags (via Design Sponge)
Get fancy and personalized (or don't) with these handy little bags. Carry your herbs, cherry tomatoes, and other small produce items that get lost in your reusable shopping bag.

2. Reusable Shopping Bags (via Apartment Therapy)
Even I could do this one. Bags made out of old pillowcases, flour sacks or rice bags.

3. Super Simple T-Shirt Bag (via Simple Organic)
Wow, they're getting easier! T-shirt one minute, cute bag the next.

4.  DIY Farmers Market Fruit Basket (via eHow)
Basket from Hobby Lobby, check. Delicious Indiana peaches, apples, berries and pears from Farmers Market, check. Wrap it, tie a bow on it, and done.

5. Farmers Market Shopping Tips (via
Good questions to ask the vendors. Here are two tips of my own: Arrive early if you want eggs and ask if the vendor takes debit/credit cards! Some vendors are starting to accept cards, which is good news for those of us who never carry cash.

Happy shopping at Farmers Market at Minnetrista!
