          Cooking in the Courtyard
          Friday, June 6, 6 – 8 p.m.

          Garden Fair kicks off with a special outdoor dinner prepared and served in the Orchard Shop Courtyard by chefs from the American Culinary Federation. Follow along or join in the preparation of a multi-course meal, featuring herbs, wines and more. Reservations required.
          Members - $35 per person, $60 per couple
          Non-members - $45 per person, $80 per couple.

          Speakers and Demonstrations
               
          9 a.m.  Vegetable Gardening 101
          Advanced Master Gardener Tom Leonard will present vegetable gardening basics. His presentation will start with a short video presentation of his own Indiana vegetable garden. He will then share the techniques and tools and that help to make his garden so successful.

          10 a.m.  Canning Demonstration: Fresh No-cook Berry Jam
          Lauren Devine of Jarden Home Brands will prepare delicious freezer jam with fresh, local berries in less than 30 minutes…without cooking! She will also share some of her favorite jam-making tips straight from the Ball® Brand test kitchen. Try a taste for yourself!  Pick up your free sample!
           
          11 a.m.  Rain Barrels
          Rain barrels are a unique and useful addition to your vegetable garden.  Shareen Wagley from the Muncie Sanitary District will show you the benefits of incorporating them in your own garden.
           
          12 p.m. Cooking Demonstration
          Enjoy a presentation featuring fresh Farmers Market vegetables. Dishes prepared by Chef Aaron Gnap from the American Culinary Federation.
                                             
          1 p.m.  Q & A Session
          Come prepared with gardening questions of all kinds!  Dave Clamme, Purdue Extension Educator, will be on hand to answer your gardening questions to help you gear up for the planting season!
           
          2 p.m.  Organic Gardening
          Learn the philosophies and gain a better understanding of what it means to grow organic vegetables through the eyes of local grower Dawn Steffes.
           
          3 p.m.  Vermi Composting
          Michelle Rowland, Chairman of Youth Activities for Garden Clubs of Indiana, Inc., and a member of many other gardening club associations, will be sharing the highlights and how-to's of vegetable composting using worms.

          Free admission, free parkingShopping continues on Sunday, offering gardeners one last opportunity to purchase their plant selections and unique garden accents. Members of several local garden interest groups will also be set up under the tent prepared to to share their knowledge and expertise about specific aspects of gardening.

          10 a.m.  Q & A Session
          Dave Clamme, Purdue Extension Educator, will return for another round of questions and answers for all of your gardening needs.  Come prepared with questions pertaining to any facet of gardening.
                                             
          11 a.m.  Vegetable Gardening 101
          Tom Leonard has been gardening for more than 40 years in many states, but his best success has been in Indiana.  How does this Advanced Master Gardener do it?  Find out in this program, which will include a video and props used in his gardens.

          12 p.m.  Obscure Root Vegetables: A Historical Perspective
          Jicama? Yuca Root? Taro? Amy Searfoss, Visitor Service Assistant at Minnetrista, will discuss the historical significance of these and other non-native root vegetables.
           
          1 p.m.  Pest Control in the Garden                
          Tim Gaddie, one of Minnetrista's "Get Up and Grow" columnists will discuss best practices for the prevention of pests, insects and disease problems in the most common garden vegetables, including tomatoes, squash, beans, peppers and more.
           
          2 p.m.  Gourd Art
          Learn how Beth Wentz, member of the Indiana Gourd Society, gives a whole new life to a dried gourd. Paint is only the beginning; she'll show us how wax, wood burning tools, and even crochet can be used on these vegetables to provide a really unique form of art.
