The Turtle Fountain This sculpture features a girl standing on the back of a turtle. The back of the shell is signed, "Edward Borse, Sc, Gorham Co., GFC Foundries."
The bronze sculpture is 53" high, 13.5" wide and 18.5" deep (measured without the base). The sculpture is American in origin.
The fountain is located at the end of the Colonnade Garden at Oakhurst, it is bolted to a boulder. The Colonnade Garden was constructed in 1993 and 1994.
The fountain (girl and turtle sculptures) was restored by Kenneth G. Ryden of Anderson in late 1992. The fountain was cleaned, the interior plumbing was replaced and areas that had broken off or eroded away were restored. The patina was restored and the fountain was coated with Incralac.
