Columns
The Indiana limestone columns were once a part of the front portico of the Frank C. Ball home, Minnetrista.  The home was destroyed by fire in 1967. The columns continued to mark the site for several years thereafter.

After the home was demolished, the columns were moved to a temporary base and remained there during the early part of construction of Minnetrista.

In September 1987, the columns were moved onto their present foundation, to mark the entrance to Minnetrista.

Many people think there are five columns, one for each of the Ball Brothers.  Actually, there are six columns arranged in a circle.  The designer felt that this was a more reposeful grouping.

Eight large columns were salvaged from the F.
C. Ball home.  Photographs indicate that the front portico consisted of only six columns; however, several other large, similar columns are visible on the left side of the house.
