Community EngagementMinnetrista is truly a gathering place by the water. Many opportunities exist to connect with community members as individuals, families, businesses, civic, and social groups. The Minnetrista ExperienceThe Minnetrista Experience is social in nature. People of all ages and walks of life gather at our place by the river, at schools, community centers, and other cultural venues to experience the fun and excitement of a shared interest. Whether in small family groups or larger social gatherings, people come together to engage with Minnetrista's staff and volunteers, our programs and events, our beautiful setting, and with each other. Living GreenStewardship of our resources, both natural and cultural, is an important part of our institutional heritage. Minnetrista will take a leading role in our community by promoting environmentally sustainable practices through its programming, workshops, day-to-day operation of the Minnetrista campus, and when planning for new construction. Historic Resources/Historic PreservationMinnetrista is committed to being a leader in the preservation and appropriate use of historic resources both its own and those of other history organizations and of the community. Minnetrista holds in public trust a valuable collection that includes significant cultural and historical objects and archival materials related to East Central Indiana, as well as historic homes and structures.
The Heritage Collection is utilized for research, in the curation of exhibitions, and in educational programming. Staff also cultivate and foster relationships with other collecting institutions and with private collectors in order to supplement these activities.
